Hosted VoIP Questions, Answered
Does it cost anything to work with Complete Connect?
No. Our guidance and ongoing support come at no extra cost to you. Complete Connect is compensated by the providers in our network, so you do not pay a consulting fee for the comparison, the implementation help, or the support afterward. You are never obligated to choose any of the options we present.
What is hosted VoIP, in plain terms?
Hosted VoIP is a business phone system that runs in a provider's secure data centers instead of on a box in your back closet. Calls travel over your internet connection, and you manage users, greetings, and call routing from a web portal. Your team can answer business calls on desk phones, computers, or mobile apps, all on the same system and the same business numbers.
Can we keep our existing phone numbers?
In most cases, yes. Local and toll-free numbers can usually be ported from your current carrier to a new hosted VoIP provider. Porting requires accurate account details from your current bill, and the timeline varies by carrier. We help gather that information up front and schedule the cutover so calls keep coming in during the switch.
How long does it take to switch phone systems?
A straightforward setup for a small team can often be ready within a few weeks, with number porting usually setting the pace. Larger teams, multiple locations, or complex call flows take more planning. During the first conversation we map out a realistic timeline so the switch lines up with contract end dates, office moves, or opening day.
Do we need new desk phones?
Not always. Some existing IP phones can be reused with a new provider, and many teams decide they only need desk phones at a few desks and use computer or mobile apps everywhere else. Where new phones make sense, providers typically offer options to buy or lease them. We include equipment in the comparison so the total cost is clear.
Will our internet connection support VoIP calls?
Most business internet connections handle VoIP well, but call quality depends on available bandwidth, how the network is configured, and how much other traffic competes with voice. We review your current connection as part of the process, and if it needs an upgrade or a backup line, we can compare internet options at the same time.
What if we are still in a contract with our current provider?
That is very common. Share your contract end date and we will plan around it, whether that means scheduling the new system to start as the old term ends or weighing the cost of leaving early against the savings of switching now. Starting the comparison a few months before renewal gives you the most options.
Who do we call if something goes wrong after the switch?
You call us. Complete Connect stays on as your point of contact after implementation, so if you need to add users, change call routing, or escalate a service issue with the provider, you have someone in your corner who already knows your setup.
